The Certified Ophthalmic Technician is either a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant. The Certified Ophthalmic Technician is responsible to assist ophthalmologists by performing various duties appropriate for their licensure level that are essential for patient care and so that patients receive the highest standard of service. The Medical Assistant - Certified is responsible for assisting physicians, midlevel providers, and other clinical staff in providing medical services to patients with provider delegation within scope of practice. This position assists physicians with back-office duties. The Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) works under the delegation of a licensed practitioner (e.g., RN, APC, MD/DO) to perform duties as directed to assist in providing patient care to assigned patients.
