About The Position

Join our ophthalmology team in Stoneham, conveniently located on Main Street (Route 28), just off Route 95, with free on-site parking. Our Stoneham location provides both Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Retina services, giving you the opportunity to work alongside experienced providers and clinical professionals while gaining exposure to a variety of ophthalmic specialties. This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position with a consistent 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule and no weekends. Whether you are an experienced Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or looking to continue developing your skills in ophthalmology, this role offers opportunities to expand your clinical knowledge, gain hands-on experience with ophthalmic technology, and grow as part of a collaborative care team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) required and must be maintained in good standing.
  • At least one year of experience working as an Ophthalmic Assistant in a supervised clinical setting required.
  • Working knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, clinical procedures, and diagnostic testing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patients, families, providers, and members of the care team.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Ability to stay organized, prioritize responsibilities, and adapt in a busy clinical environment.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations and procedures
  • Perform a variety of ophthalmic testing and clinical procedures
  • Support providers during patient examinations and care
  • Utilize ophthalmic equipment and technology as part of the patient care process
  • Work collaboratively with providers, technicians, and other members of the care team
  • Help create an efficient, welcoming, and patient-centered experience for every patient
