Requirements

  • Graduate from a Therapy Assistant accredited curriculum. Eligible for certification and/or licensure per state regulations.
  • Is a registered assistant or is eligible for registration in the state of Colorado.
  • Ability to understand medical terminology and how it applies to Therapy in order to communicate with residents, staff and physicians, and to prepare meaningful reports.

Responsibilities

  • The COTA will provide quality ongoing therapy to all patients within the facility per physician’s orders.
  • Communicate on an ongoing basis with therapist, residents and staff, the progress of such designed programs; assists the therapist with resident/patient related activities and direct resident/patient care and keeps department records as per facility policy.
  • Performs therapy treatment and related duties delegated by the therapist.
  • Provides Therapy to the residents upon written order of the residents’ attending physician and specifically:
  • Communicates a report on the residents’ progress to the therapist and attending physician.
  • Consults with the therapist and the physician regarding residents’ change of condition as indicated during the course of treatment.
