About The Position

Kettering Home Care is looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join their team. This role focuses on providing home-based therapy for patients as directed by the attending physician and following goals set by the Occupational Therapist. The COTA will interact with patients' families and be involved in the patient's recovery journey, gaining real-world perspective on restoring health.

Requirements

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) with current license in the state of employment
• Minimum one-year experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in an acute care setting.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance in your name as a driver.
• Capable of all physical demands.

Responsibilities

• Provide home-based therapy for patients as directed by the attending physician and by following the order sets and goals created by the Occupational Therapist.
• Interact with patients' families while caring for patients.
• Provide comprehensive skilled services as ordered by the attending physician.
• Educate patients and their family members and ensures the safety of the patient.
• Complete accurate documentation and remain compliant with all legal rules and regulations.
• Provide skilled occupational therapy as ordered by the attending physician and observe and monitor patient conditions and notify the Occupational Therapist of any changes in the patient’s condition.
• Assess functional problems and provide intervention and, in conjunction with the occupational therapist, work toward goals to improve patient functional status.
• Counsel patient and family on the disease/injury and how to manage in all phases of occupational therapy.
• Instruct patient and family members on proper use of equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, walkers, crutches, canes, and other prosthetic/orthotic devices.
• Complete all clinical documentation following agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines.
• Understand and follow agency policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Communicate changes in schedule/availability to schedulers or supervisors.
• Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings.
