The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will assist the Occupational Therapist (OT) in planning, developing, organizing, evaluating, and directing occupational therapy activities. This role involves facilitating Telehealth services, communicating with other departments, maintaining therapy standards, and interpreting recommendations to staff and residents. The COTA will also assist in instructing residents and families on home programs and adaptive equipment, maintaining documentation, ensuring accurate billing, and performing administrative duties. The position requires active participation in care conferences, discharge planning, and resident assessments. The COTA will also be involved in staff development, safety and sanitation protocols, and managing therapy equipment and supplies. A key aspect of this role is upholding resident rights, including honoring refusal of treatment and ensuring participation in treatment decisions, while adhering to HIPAA requirements. The working conditions involve various environments within the facility and interaction with diverse groups of people, requiring constant alertness for resident safety. The role may involve lifting residents and equipment.
