Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) program
- Current New Mexico COTA license in good standing
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation with current automobile insurance
- Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills
Nice To Haves
- Home health experience preferred, but enthusiastic and compassionate clinicians are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities
- Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Assist patients in improving functional mobility, self-care skills, upper extremity function, coordination, strength, balance, and independence with daily activities
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, activities, and functional task training appropriate to the established plan of care
- Instruct patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, energy conservation techniques, and home safety strategies
- Observe, document, and communicate patient progress, responses to treatment, and changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Complete accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, caregivers, and other interdisciplinary team members to provide coordinated, patient-centered care
- Maintain compliance with Medicare regulations, agency policies, and professional standards of practice
