About The Position

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital South is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide patient care in its inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital. The COTA works under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist and as directed by a licensed physician, providing occupational therapy modalities and treatment procedures established in an Occupational Therapist’s treatment plan. The goal is to restore function and prevent disability following illness or injury. The position follows hospital and departmental policies and maintains high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• Hold a license and be eligible to practice as a COTA in the state where services are rendered.
• CPR certification is required.
• Be passionate about helping others and be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy modalities and treatment procedures according to the Occupational Therapist’s treatment plan.
• Communicate patient progress and concerns to the supervising occupational therapist and interdisciplinary team.
• Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in follow-through programs and home exercises.
• Assist with patient scheduling and enter post-treatment charges in patient records daily.
• Document patient care accurately and in accordance with regulatory, licensing, payer, and accrediting requirements.
• Maintain treatment equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct, Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable laws, and professional standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
