About The Position

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), also referred to as an Occupational Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapist Assistant. The COTA works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to help patients improve their ability to complete everyday activities, regain independence, and safely progress through recovery after illness, injury, surgery, or hospitalization. Within the scope of practice, the COTA provides prescribed therapeutic services to restore function and prevent disability for patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary disorders. The role follows departmental and hospital policies and applicable state and federal regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Associate degree (COTA) from an accredited program.
Current state Occupational Therapy certification.
Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

Provide occupational therapy treatments according to established plans of care and under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
Assist patients with mobility, coordination, strength, and activities of daily living.
Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the Occupational Therapist and care team.
Educate and support patients and families throughout the rehabilitation process.
Provide prescribed therapy services to help restore function and prevent disability while following hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Perform responsibilities in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and applicable state and federal regulatory requirements, including Title 22 Sections 70517 and 70519.
