About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) working in both inpatient and outpatient settings. A sign-on bonus is available. The role involves providing treatment as directed by an Occupational Therapist (OT), observing and evaluating treatment effects, and performing assessments. The COTA will also assess patient pain, assist in formulating teaching plans, coordinate patient care, and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

AA Degree from a school or college approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Current state of Wisconsin Occupational Therapy Assistant license
Current certification by the NBCOT
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policy
Exhibit ability to deal with difficult situations, demonstrating good judgment and tactfulness, while remaining professional and courteous
Maintains regulatory requirements
Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized time system correctly
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Critical thinking and problem solving

Responsibilities

Providing treatment as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
Observing and evaluating treatment effects and discussing observations with the OT.
Performing components of an appropriate assessment on all residents as related to the therapy requested and provided, and reassessments as per policy.
Assessing patient/resident pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation and making appropriate physician contact for intervention.
Assisting with the formulation of a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and assessing the effectiveness of learning, including family involvement as appropriate.
Coordinating and assisting with directing patient care to ensure patients/residents' needs are met and hospital/nursing home policy is followed.
Performing other duties as assigned.
