About The Position

Under the supervision and direction of the Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides effective treatment and clinical activities in the provision of occupational therapy so that effective and optimum quality of patient care is delivered.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an Occupational Assistant program with a minimum of an Associate’s degree.
  • Successful completion of clinical internship requirements.
  • Current Licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Board of Medical Examiners, State of California.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of occupational therapy procedures and techniques required for providing routine inpatient, SNF and outpatient physical therapy treatments.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of professional experience as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.

  • Provides effective treatment and clinical activities in the provision of occupational therapy.
  • Delivers effective and optimum quality of patient care.
  • Follows directions accurately.
  • Establishes effective relationships with patients and fellow employees.
  • Assumes responsibility for updating skills as required by hospital policy.
  • Walks and stands for long periods, stoops and mechanically operates wheelchair accessories repetitively throughout the day and positions/transfers dependent patients in and out of bed without assistance.
  • Follows infection control procedures.
  • Applies proper body mechanics.
