This position is responsible for assisting the Occupational Therapist in providing occupational therapy services to residents. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will help in planning, developing, organizing, and evaluating therapy activities. They will also facilitate telehealth services, communicate with other departments, and maintain departmental standards and policies. The role involves interpreting therapy recommendations, participating in care conferences, and instructing residents and families on home programs and adaptive equipment. Accurate documentation and billing are crucial, with all notes and billing completed on the date of service. The COTA will also assist in interviewing residents to evaluate their daily living skills and capacities, and ensure all goals in the Plan of Care are addressed weekly. Staff development, safety, sanitation, and equipment management are also key aspects of this role. The position requires adherence to resident rights, including honoring refusal of treatment and maintaining HIPAA compliance.
