About The Position

This position is for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for the 2026-27 school year, serving the Goldendale, Mabton, and Bickleton school districts. The COTA will report directly to the Occupational Therapist and is responsible for supporting and assisting students with disabilities in various educational settings. This role involves implementing and documenting treatment programs consistent with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and working collaboratively with therapists, teachers, parents, and instructional assistants to support student development.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in occupational therapy assistant.
  • Have or are eligible to hold a certified occupational therapy assistant license in the state of Washington.
  • Complete work history section, including ANY and ALL employment going back 10 years.
  • At least three professional references and contact information.
  • A cover letter expressing interest in the position.
  • A resume that reflects work experience listed on application.
  • A copy of your COTA license.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  • Travel within ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Physical and/or Occupational Therapist, consistent with the IEP and/or IFSP goals, to implement the therapy program including exercises, activities of daily living skills, and ambulatory techniques.
  • Construct, adapt, and monitor adaptive equipment.
  • Consult with teachers and parents on use of adaptive equipment.
  • Maintain records of student progress, attendance, and other required activities.
  • Prepare projects and materials for conducting individual and group motor skills programs.
  • Follow established procedures from referral to discharge with appropriate communication to supervisors.
  • Monitor instructional assistants in daily motor skills program.
  • Consult with classroom staff/education team members and parents regarding implementing motor skills program.
  • Assist the Physical and/or Occupational Therapist in the assessment of students and the development of IFSP/IEP goals.
  • Participate as a member of the education team.
  • May attend parent conferences.
  • Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
