Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
About The Position
Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation is hiring a full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for its inpatient setting in Dallas, Texas. Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and in accordance with state practice guidelines, the assistant helps implement therapy plans of care and directs supportive personnel for assigned patients. The role includes communicating with the supervising Occupational Therapist about patient needs, assessments and reassessments, treatment-plan modifications, and interventions requiring therapist direction. The assistant also participates in education for patients, families, students, coworkers, and themselves, and may perform other patient-care duties within the scope of practice. Compensation depends on the candidate’s years of experience and internal equity.
Requirements
- Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Certified BLS, or completion within the first 90 days of employment, as required by state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with implementation of therapy plans of care under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and in accordance with state practice guidelines.
- Delegate and direct supportive personnel for assigned patients to enhance patient-care services.
- Communicate consistently with the supervising Occupational Therapist regarding scheduled patients and the need for assessments, reassessments, treatment-plan modifications, and interventions requiring therapist direction.
- Participate in education of patients, families, students, coworkers, and self.
- Perform other professional duties associated with patient care within the scope of practice.
