About The Position

This role involves conducting medically prescribed occupational therapy under the supervision of an occupational therapist. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will implement established treatment plans using appropriate modalities, document patient progress, and seek consultation as necessary. Key responsibilities include monitoring patient response to treatment, communicating progress and potential goal revisions to the occupational therapist, and educating patients and their families/caregivers about deficits. The role also includes providing discharge planning assistance and information on adaptive equipment and community support programs. Additionally, the position may involve overseeing the care provided by therapy 3-Technicians, adhering to established regulations and practice standards.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credentialed from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Acute Care Experience

Responsibilities

May oversee the care provided by therapy 3-Technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.
