About The Position

Select Physical Therapy is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide per diem coverage within our outpatient hand therapy program in Ft. Myers. This role involves assisting in the treatment of patients with upper extremity and orthopedic conditions, including tendon injuries, fractures, sprains, and post-surgical diagnoses, all under the direction of a supervising therapist. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced hand therapists and Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs) within a nationally recognized rehabilitation organization that has a strong hand therapy network, established physician relationships, and a supportive outpatient setting.

Requirements

  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
  • Minimum one year of hand therapy experience
  • Graduate of an ACOTA accredited occupational therapy assistant (OTA) program
  • National registration and state COTA licensure or registration REQUIRED
  • 1 year current working experience with hand therapy patients.
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Valid state driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • In lieu of experience, new graduates considered with recent hand therapy fieldwork experience
  • In lieu of experience, new grad COTAs with fieldwork in hand therapy with Select Medical would be eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the treatment of patients with upper extremity and orthopedic conditions, including tendon injuries, fractures, sprains, and post-surgical diagnoses
  • Deliver care under the direction of the supervising therapist
  • Collaborate with experienced hand therapists and Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs)
  • Under the direction of the licensed occupational therapist, optimize the functional abilities and skills of patients.
  • Teach clients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality patient care services.
  • Observe, note, and report on the progress of long and short-term treatment goals
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient care.
  • Maintain professional standards through compliance with quality assurance policies/ procedures as well as applicable regulations and corporate policies
