About The Position

Symbria is seeking compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to join their full-time Internal Travel Team. This program offers the flexibility of travel assignments across 10 states and various care settings, combined with the stability and benefits of permanent employment. The role involves improving the lives of older adults through occupational therapy interventions, with competitive salary and a monthly travel stipend. Assignments are typically 13 weeks with opportunities for extension or transition to new locations, and continuous assignments are guaranteed for one year. After one year, employees can opt for relocation assistance for a permanent role or continue as part of the internal travel team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Active COTA license in Symbria operating states or ability to obtain licensure (including compact eligibility).
  • Must hold a full license in state of residence if utilizing a compact license.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent observation, problem-solving, and basic math skills.
  • Customer-service oriented with strong teamwork abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in acute care, long-term care, or rehabilitation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review assigned patient charts and obtain necessary background information.
  • Assist the supervising Occupational Therapist in gathering evaluation data within established areas of expertise.
  • Seek guidance from the supervising Occupational Therapist when evaluation data falls outside COTA scope of practice.
  • Modify short-term goals and adapt treatment techniques to meet established plans of care and individual patient needs.
  • Discuss treatment plans and progress with patients and families as appropriate.
  • Deliver prescribed Occupational Therapy interventions to restore and maintain function and prevent disability, including therapeutic exercises and activities to improve upper extremity function, activities addressing sensory and perceptual skills, exercises and activities to enhance coordination, instruction in self-care tasks such as hygiene, bathing, dressing, transfers, eating, homemaking, and leisure activities, and education on body mechanics, joint protection, and work simplification.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical and billing documentation.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to support patient outcomes.
  • Maintain productivity standards and comply with Symbria policies, Code of Conduct, and travel assignment requirements.
  • Utilize provided technology to enhance documentation and patient care.
  • Travel to assigned Symbria locations and provide personal transportation between assignments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
