About The Position

Focused Post Acute Care Partners (FPACP) is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our team at Focused Care at Sherman in Sherman, TX. As a COTA, you will work under the general supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide treatment to patients, assisting them in regaining physical abilities, function, and independence. Requirements

  • Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of an Associate's degree in occupational therapy assistant from an accredited college.
  • Current license / registration by state of hire as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Occupational Therapist in the development and implementation of individual patient occupational therapy care plans.
  • Performs daily occupational therapy assignments to accomplish patient therapy plans and treatment goals.
  • Responsible for the daily care of assigned patients.
  • Guides patients through prescribed exercise programs to enhance strength, muscle tone, and range of motion.
  • Applies various therapeutic treatments and modalities as prescribed for muscle/nerve function and pain management.
  • Assists patients in ADL skills retraining.
  • Performs other therapeutic activities such as massage and body mechanics.
  • Observes patient condition during treatment and notes any significant changes, seeking assistance from the Occupational Therapist when appropriate.
  • Records patient response to treatment and overall progress in patient charts.
  • Refers patients to Occupational Therapist for re-evaluation as necessary.
  • Prepares patient referrals as requested by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Communicates regularly with the Occupational Therapist regarding program design, implementation, and progress.
  • Participates in Occupational Therapy Assistants' meetings.
  • Advises professional team members of patient progress and treatment effectiveness, suggesting revisions to treatment plans as needed.
  • Acts as a resource to staff concerning occupational therapy programs.
  • Provides training to staff on the utilization of adaptive equipment and the implementation of treatment plans.
  • Cleans and maintains treatment areas and ensures equipment is in proper working order, reporting needed repairs.
  • Assists in scheduling patients, preparing daily schedules, and maintaining daily census.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the organization's Mission, Purpose, and Philosophy.
