About The Position

HealthPro Heritage is seeking a PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide therapy services at assisted living communities in Huntington and Dix Hills, New York. Therapy is provided Monday through Friday, with no evening or weekend work. The assistant implements individualized treatment plans developed by an Occupational Therapist, supports residents’ daily living skills and therapeutic activities, monitors and documents progress, and collaborates with other care professionals and families. Previous occupational therapy experience is preferred, and new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Current state licensure, or eligibility for licensure, to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Previous experience in an occupational therapy setting, such as a hospital, clinic, or school; new graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Assist in providing individualized therapy according to treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist, including activities to improve dressing, eating, mobility, and other daily living skills.
Track and document patient progress in accordance with facility policies, and report changes or concerns to the Occupational Therapist.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing staff, to provide holistic care.
Educate patients and families about therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, and strategies for greater independence.
Lead or assist patients with exercises, activities of daily living, and other therapeutic tasks while fostering a positive and supportive environment.
