About The Position

The COTA Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. Life Care Center of Pueblo offers an outdoor therapy courtyard to prepare residents with outdoor obstacles prior to discharging home, individualized home assessments, private treatment rooms for therapists to use during treatments, and various outdoor areas for the residents to enjoy our beautiful grounds. Requirements

NBCOT certified upon hire, but renewal is optional going forward.
Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (ASOT).
Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail.
Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility.
Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

Provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
Follows occupational treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising OT.
Charts appropriately and timely.
Utilizes therapy software appropriately and accurately.
Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
Assists in the evacuation of patients.
Demonstrates dependable, regular attendance.
Concentrates and uses reasoning skills and good judgment.
Communicates and functions productively on an interdisciplinary team.
Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs.
Demonstrates good body mechanics at all times.
Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Implements and interprets the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
Performs proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation.
Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.
