The Staff Occupational Therapist Assistant assists the Staff Occupational Therapist with resident related activities and direct resident care. This role involves treating residents as directed, completing accurate documentation, maintaining a safe treatment environment, and participating in resident care conferences and rehabilitation meetings. The assistant also supports the nursing department with training Restorative Aides, communicates progress and discharge plans to relevant parties, and provides in-services on training programs. Additionally, they educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals and safety strategies, recommend and facilitate the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment, and maintain confidentiality of resident and company information. Reporting equipment problems and contributing to quality assurance initiatives are also key aspects of this position. The role requires the ability to relate positively and effectively with residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.
