About The Position

We are currently looking for a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our team. Requirements

Successful completion of the academic requirements of an educational program for the occupational therapy assistant recognized by the Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.
Program must be accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education, or its successor.
Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state of New York.
Professional attitude and appearance.
Proficient administrative and public relations skills.
Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, materials and equipment used in occupational therapy.
Thorough knowledge of the possible hazards to patients during treatment and necessary precautionary and remedial measures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and to obtain their cooperation in the treatment prescribed.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the medical staff and other personnel.
Demonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with the demands of both patients and employees.
Must maintain patient and employee confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in Occupational Therapy, preferred.
Member of state and national American Occupational Therapy Association, preferred.
Training in the use of prescriptive devices (electrical stimulation, ultrasound), preferred.
Knowledge of Medicare and third party reimbursement, preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide occupational therapy services under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
Assist patients in regaining or developing daily living skills.
Implement treatment plans prescribed by the Occupational Therapist.
Maintain patient and employee confidentiality.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and medical staff.
Demonstrate emotional stability to cope with the demands of patients and employees.
