About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (official title: Residential Care Assistant) at Masonicare at Ashlar Village assists residents with activities of daily living and personal care to maximize independence, freedom of choice, and quality of life. This is a day-shift role in Wallingford, Connecticut, scheduled for 32 hours per week. No prior experience is required, but CNA certification is required.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living and personal care, including bathing, dressing, ambulating, toileting, meals and nourishment, hygiene, transfers, and care of devices such as eyeglasses and hearing aids.
Assist residents with instrumental activities of daily living, including telephone calls, light housekeeping, laundry, escorting and transportation, and mail delivery and correspondence.
Assist residents with self-administration of medication through cueing only.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive or emotional status to the ALSA Supervisor or Director of Assisted Living Services as needed.
Conduct room checks during resident rounds, monitor environmental safety hazards, and record incidents, errors, accidents, and resident-related events.
Assist with dining tasks, including escorting residents, setup and cleanup, and serving meals.
Participate in and support the resident-centered activity program.
Complete required written documentation concerning resident care and activities during the shift.
Act as a resident advocate at all times.
Follow agency confidentiality policies.
Use tactful, diplomatic communication in sensitive or emotionally charged situations and follow up with appropriate staff, residents, or others about complaints, problems, and concerns.
Serve as an ambassador to guests and off-campus visitors.
Maintain certifications required for employment.
Perform other duties as required.
