About The Position

CoxHealth is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or NA Trainee for their Cardiac unit on the night shift. This role involves providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including taking vital signs, assisting with bathing, dressing, and mobility, changing linens, and reporting any changes in patient condition. The position is for 24 scheduled weekly hours, with shifts from 18:30 to 07:00. CoxHealth is a large healthcare system serving southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas, recognized for its workplace excellence by various publications.

Requirements

  • Prior patient care or health care related experience (Preferred for NA Trainee).
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred for NA Trainee).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits valuable time management skills.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Is available for work on a consistent and timely basis.
  • Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks.
  • BLS must be obtained within 90 days.
  • 3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years OR Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years OR Completed the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program OR Must have Missouri CNA License OR Must have MO CNA Appendix AND MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire (Required for Certified Nurse Assistant).

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff.
  • Perform duties such as take vitals, bathe, dress, move patients, change linens and other duties as assigned.
  • Obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff, and reports any changes in patient condition.
  • Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel (for NA Trainee).
  • While in the clinical learning environment, will provide basic patient care under direction and supervision of clinical educator and nursing staff (for NA Trainee).
  • During clinical rotation, may perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, changing linens and other duties within their scope of practice as directed (for NA Trainee).
  • While in clinical setting, obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff or clinical educator and reports any changes in patient condition (for NA Trainee).
  • At the end of the training, a competency assessment will be administered to validate learning (for NA Trainee).
