About The Position

Harrison County Hospital is seeking to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Med/Surg and TCU Department. This position is available on a PRN basis, for night shifts, with 12-hour shifts. Under the supervision of the Department of Nursing, this role performs receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit. The CNA serves as the central communication point at the nursing station, interacting with patients, visitors, staff, other departments, and physicians. They also assist staff nurses in patient treatment and care, adhering to the hospital's established policies and procedures. This employee must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan to assess patient status and provide age-specific care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED, or equivalent
• Valid CNA License in the State of Indiana
• CPR certification
• Customer Skills
• Basic Computer Skills
• Demonstration of basic knowledge of patient care and basic ADLs
• Required use of Electronic Medical Record System (Cerner)
• Patient Confidentiality
• Teamwork

Responsibilities

• Performs receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit.
• Serves as the focal communication source in the nursing station.
• Interacts with patients, visitors, staff, other departments, and physicians.
• Assists staff nurses in the treatment and care of patients.
• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles over the life span.
• Assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interprets appropriate information for age-specific needs.
