About The Position

Gail’s Homecare is a non-medical, in-home care provider that maintains the highest quality standards in the industry. We are based in Lithonia, Georgia and our services are available in the areas of Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Jackson, and Rockdale County. We are currently seeking for a compassionate, highly-skilled, and reliable personal care assistant (PCA) to serve as part of our growing home health care team. In this role, you will work with our clients in their homes, helping them with basic personal hygiene and domestic tasks as needed, according to their requirements and limitations. You will provide compassionate care and assistance and document clients' progress to help ensure their overall wellbeing. If you have the following requirements and qualifications, we want you!

Requirements

  • Current CPR/BLS and First Aid Certification required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time professional experience in a healthcare setting required
  • Completion of at least eight (8) hours of personal care-related training annually
  • Ability to work under supervision and demonstrate competency in providing quality client care
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients with mobility and other physical tasks
  • Willingness to perform both personal care and household tasks as requested by the client
  • Dependable, punctual, and reliable
  • Ability to comply with all agency policies, legal requirements, and healthcare regulations
  • Valid Driver's License or State-Issued ID
  • Current CNA License
  • Current CPR Certification Card
  • Current TB Test Results
  • Social Security Card
  • Vaccination Record/Card
  • Existing Fingerprint-Based Background Check

Nice To Haves

  • three (3) to five (5) years preferred experience in a healthcare setting
  • Significant experience in a home health care setting strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and conversational skills
  • Participation in professional meetings and training sessions as directed
  • Experience in housekeeping or domestic work is a plus
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
  • Warm, compassionate, and caring personality
  • Commitment to treating clients with dignity, respect, and professionalism

Responsibilities

  • Assist the client with bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
  • Change clothing and incontinence products as needed.
  • Ensure the client remains clean, dry, comfortable, and properly positioned in bed.
  • Safely operate and use a Hoyer Lift for client transfers.
  • Assist the client out of bed and into a seated position for meals when needed.
  • After meals, assist the client back into bed.
  • Ensure the client is properly repositioned, pulled up in bed, and comfortable following transfers.
  • Ensure meals and beverages are within the client's reach.
  • Confirm the client is safely and comfortably positioned while eating.
  • Empty trash as needed.
  • Fold and organize laundry.
  • Clean and maintain the bathroom.
  • Perform light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Vacuum floors and common areas as needed.
  • Ensure the client is always positioned safely and comfortably after transfers and personal care activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home environment at all times.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report any concerns or changes in the client's condition to the office promptly.
  • Treat the client with dignity, respect, compassion, and professionalism during every shift.
