About The Position

Gail’s Homecare is a non-medical, in-home care provider that maintains the highest quality standards in the industry. We are based in Lithonia, Georgia and our services are available in the areas of Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Jackson, and Rockdale County. We are currently seeking for a compassionate, highly-skilled, and reliable personal care assistant (PCA) to serve as part of our growing home health care team. In this role, you will work with our clients in their homes, helping them with basic personal hygiene and domestic tasks as needed, according to their requirements and limitations. You will provide compassionate care and assistance and document clients' progress to help ensure their overall wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Current CPR/BLS and First Aid certification required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time professional experience in a healthcare setting required
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conversational skills
  • Completion of at least eight (8) hours of personal care-related training annually
  • Ability to work under supervision and demonstrate competency in providing quality client care
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients with mobility and other physical tasks
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
  • Willingness to perform both personal care and household tasks as requested by the client
  • Dependable, punctual, and reliable
  • Commitment to treating clients with dignity, respect, and professionalism
  • Ability to comply with all agency policies, legal requirements, and healthcare regulations
  • Valid Driver's License or State-Issued ID
  • Current CNA License
  • Current CPR Certification Card
  • Current TB Test Results
  • Social Security Card
  • Vaccination Record/Card
  • Existing Fingerprint-Based Background Check

Nice To Haves

  • three (3) to five (5) years preferred
  • Significant experience in a home health care setting strongly preferred
  • Experience in housekeeping or domestic work is a plus
  • Warm, compassionate, and caring personality

Responsibilities

  • Assist client with washing and hygiene.
  • Change her clothing and/or incontinence products as needed.
  • Ensure she is clean, comfortable, and repositioned properly in bed.
  • Use the Hoyer lift to safely transfer client from the bed when needed.
  • Assist her into a seated position for lunch.
  • After the meal, assist her back into bed and ensure she is properly pulled up and positioned comfortably.
  • Feeding assistance is not required. However, ensure her meal is within reach and that she is safely positioned while eating.
  • Empty the trash as needed.
  • Fold the laundry.
  • Keep the bathroom clean and tidy.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of the house.
  • Vacuum the floors regularly.
  • Ensure client is always positioned comfortably and safely after transfers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment at all times.
