About The Position
Under the direction and supervision of an RN, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides basic and intermediate nursing care to an assigned group of patients, based on competence. Care settings and patient populations vary by unit, including general nursing, special care, maternal-child, nursery, pediatric, GI lab, chemical dependency, psychiatric, emergency, and surgical services. The position completes established competencies within the designated introductory period and performs other related duties as assigned. The role supports compassionate patient care by providing essential assistance and comfort to patients throughout their healthcare experience.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or intermediate- or higher-level Emergency Medical Technician program.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in an inpatient, emergency department, or skilled nursing unit.
- Current certification or licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomist, or EKG Technician.
- BLS obtained through an approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network.
- Obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within 60 days of hire or transfer to the position.
Nice To Haves
- Satisfactory completion of a nurse aide course, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assisting program.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic and intermediate nursing care to an assigned group of patients under RN direction and supervision, based on competence.
- Provide care appropriate to the patient population and care setting, following the unit's clinical competency requirements.
- Complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
