About The Position

Provides personal nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed registered nurse (RN). Performs tasks associated with activities of daily living and self-care needs, completes routine assigned tasks, and reports patient status and concerns to the RN. This is a per-diem, night-shift position at Adventist Health Bakersfield, a 254-bed acute care hospital with primary and specialty care medical offices in Bakersfield, California.

Requirements

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required.
• Associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Nice To Haves

• High school education, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred in California and Hawaii.
• Audiometry and vision training, or a certificate from CHDP, is preferred in California and Hawaii.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living, including nutrition and hydration, elimination, personal care, positioning devices, restraints, and restorative care.
• Take vital signs, including pulse and blood pressure.
• Help patients with basic needs such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
• Perform clerical duties, including routing patient reports as appropriate.
• Use organizational and prioritization skills to help keep the unit running smoothly and meet deadlines.
• Provide assessment data to a certified nurse within the scope of practice, including vital signs and patient verbal and nonverbal responses.
• Report patient status and concerns to the RN.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
