About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing non-professional nursing care and related services as required to meet the personal and emotional needs and comfort of residents, and to provide assistance with activities of daily living per the individualized plan of care or program plan. This role involves performing total cares, assisting or supervising resident activities in daily living, and following care plans. The CNA also assists residents during meal times, records intake, and reports observations of residents' physical and emotional condition. They participate in rehabilitation nursing care, transport residents using various equipment, and respond to resident alarms. Maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, including distributing and changing linens and disposing of waste properly, is also a key responsibility. Documentation per facility policy is required, along with performing other comparable duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a certified nursing assistant in the State of WI.
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Must have ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports.
  • Background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
  • All required certifications will be verified through the Wisconsin (WI) Registry prior to hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting mechanics.
  • Knowledge of unit recordkeeping and charting procedures.
  • Knowledge of restraining techniques.
  • Knowledge of unit general policies and procedures.
  • Skill in providing assistance to residents in basic daily care (bathing, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene).
  • Skill in assisting in and participating in rehabilitation, physical, recreational or occupational therapy activities.
  • Skill in recording and documenting in charts resident behaviors, observations, fluid/food intake, etc.
  • Ability to observe and inform nursing personnel of any significant resident status changes.
  • Ability to establish rapport with residents.
  • Ability to follow directions, instructions and perform duties in accordance with resident care plans, nursing instruction and assist residents in accordance with CNA expectations.
  • Ability to properly lift and use body mechanics.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships.
  • Ability to follow Clark County policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs total cares, assists or supervises resident activities in daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing and oral hygiene.
  • Follows care plan on master Kardex.
  • Makes suggestions to Registered Nurse regarding any changes in resident status.
  • Assists residents at meal times according to therapeutic dietary programs; serves and removes meal trays; serves between meal snacks; prepares and serves unscheduled nourishments; records fluids and food intake.
  • Reports and records observations of residents physical, emotional condition with nursing assistant guidelines; charts level of care required by each resident regarding toileting, activities of daily living, feeding, restraints etc; reports faulty equipment.
  • Recognize and report resident abuse, neglect and/or misappropriations of funds.
  • Participates in providing rehabilitation nursing care or active treatment as specified by the resident care plan; provides assistance with physical therapy, occupational therapy and activities program.
  • Transport residents using wheelchairs, sit to stand, hoyer lift, and two or three person lifts, transfer belts, etc., or provides assistance with ambulation.
  • Responds to resident call lights, wander alarms, and motion alarms.
  • Follows universal precautions.
  • Provides assistance in maintaining a safe, clean and therapeutic environment; distributes and changes linens; disposes of soiled linen properly; keeps utility, linen and soiled linen rooms in order; keeps hallways and rooms free of clutter; performs other cleaning duties as required; disposes of waste properly.
  • Document per facility policy.
  • Performs other duties of a comparable level/type, as required.
