The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) performs tasks essential to the direct care of the resident according to facility policy and procedures. This role works under the supervision of the Nursing Manager, Supervisor, RN, and LPN, and is ultimately responsible to the Director and Assistant Director of Nursing, as applicable. The CNA allows resident choices within limits of capability, considering safety and dignity, and follows facility policies and procedures regarding resident privacy and dignity. They assist in ensuring hygiene, appearance, safety, and nutritional needs are met, and provide care to maintain or improve resident functional status to the highest practical ability. Accurate documentation in EMR of resident's ADL care, personal hygiene, bowel and bladder habits, and behaviors is required. The CNA must follow universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation, and safety standards in all work and activities.
