About The Position
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, performs routine personal care duties for patients, maintains a safe environment, and reports any problems. The role supports the mission and vision of Winchester Rehabilitation Center and Winchester Medical Center. Once experienced, the CNA may act as a preceptor in orienting new CNAs.
Requirements
- Certification as a Certified Nurse Aide listed on the relevant Board of Nursing Registry in Virginia and/or West Virginia, based on work location(s) within Valley Health.
- American Heart Association-approved BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider certification, required before completion of orientation for new hires.
- Understand basic principles of human growth and development.
- Be competent to interact successfully with patients according to their special needs, including needs related to patient age.
- Have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
- If employed in Long-Term Care clinical areas, obtain Valley Health-provided annual flu vaccination.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
