This role involves providing direct patient care, including dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, and monitoring vital signs. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will complete all Activities of Daily Living (ADL) functions and related documentation. Responsibilities include responding to call lights, assisting with toileting, oral care, nail care, and catheter care. The CNA will also assist patients into wheelchairs, transport them, turn bedridden patients, report changes in patient condition, and manage trash removal. This position requires providing simple or uncomplicated patient care while also assisting with medically complex patients requiring specialized treatment. The CNA will maintain patient comfort and appearance, clean rooms, change bed linens, and record temperature, pulse, and respiration rates. Sterilization of equipment and supplies is also a duty. The role includes preparing food trays, feeding patients, and recording intake and output. Maintaining resident confidentiality and adhering to resident's rights are critical. The CNA will monitor and report changes in patient status to a Licensed RN and provide care for various patient types including post-operative, orthopedic, neuro-compromised, and cardiopulmonary patients. Ensuring patient safety with medical equipment such as oxygen therapy, IV infusion therapy, traction, G-tubes, NG tubes, catheters, and CPM machines is essential. The position requires being a supportive team member, contributing to teamwork, and demonstrating the ability to make independent decisions when necessary. Knowledge of therapeutic diets and distribution of meals/nourishments according to orders is required. The CNA must be able to interact tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies. The ability and willingness to work harmoniously with others, possessing patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and the ability to handle difficult residents are important. The CNA should be willing to learn new methods and principles and incorporate them into practice, and be able to relay information concerning a resident's condition. Performing other requested nursing care duties and identifying process improvement opportunities are also part of the role.
