About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Part-Time position at Arvin Post Acute is responsible for providing routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents. This role ensures care is delivered in accordance with each resident’s assessment and care plan, under the direction of nursing supervisors. The position involves assisting residents with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, ensuring comfort, and reporting any changes in resident condition. Additionally, the CNA will assist with meals, hydration, documentation, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. This role is crucial in supporting the overall well-being and care of residents in a skilled nursing facility setting.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10th grade education required.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of California.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and technical instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills (fractions, percentages, ratios).
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to cope with physical and emotional demands of resident care.
  • May assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents in accordance with each resident’s assessment and care plan, and as directed by nursing supervisors.
  • Identify residents using wristbands or photo ID prior to care, meals, or treatments.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral care.
  • Measure and record vital signs (TPRs), weights, and intake/output as instructed.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, positioning, and transferring residents using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Keep residents clean, dry, and comfortable at all times.
  • Observe and report changes in resident condition, including skin breakdown, injuries, or behavioral changes.
  • Provide restorative and rehabilitative care as instructed.
  • Assist residents in preparation for tests, therapy, or examinations.
  • Assist residents with meal setup and identification of food items.
  • Record food and fluid intake and report changes to the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Perform after-meal care and ensure water pitchers are clean, full, and within reach.
  • Accurately document care provided in charts, flow sheets, and notes.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, grievances, or complaints promptly.
  • Participate in shift reports and team meetings as assigned.
  • Notify the facility when late or absent from scheduled shifts.
  • Follow infection control policies and procedures related to blood/body fluid exposure.
  • Report defective equipment, hazards, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, or unauthorized access to information.
  • Use only equipment you are trained to operate.
  • Ensure resident rooms are clean, organized, and ready for admissions or transfers.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and room transfers.
  • Maintain a calm, respectful, and supportive environment for residents and coworkers.
  • Cooperate with interdisciplinary team members to meet resident needs.
