The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Observation and Neuro Med Surg role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients. This includes tasks such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and assisting with ambulation and activity orders. The position requires accurate measurement and documentation of vital signs and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). CNAs will perform purposeful rounding, communicate patient needs to the RN, and participate in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Responsibilities also include specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and maintaining stock for the nursing area. The role involves patient positioning and transporting, assisting with nutritional needs, and maintaining skin integrity. Depending on unit requirements and RN direction, tasks may include IV removal, post-mortem care, and bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles.
