About The Position

Advocates for students by providing information for the promotion and maintenance of health. Communicates and collaborates with school personnel, the home, and community, as well as with other health care personnel. Works with students and the entire school community supporting health needs such as medication administration, first aid, and immunization compliance, under the supervision of the site administrator and the Director of Special Education.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Medical background preferred
  • Degree or certification in health related field Preferred (RMA, CNA, CMA)
  • Knowledge of Google Suites
  • First aid and CPR
  • Ability to pass background check and be fingerprinted.

Responsibilities

  • Provide First Aid and CPR as needed, in accordance with training, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Schedule health appointments with medical consultants as appropriate.
  • Perform assessment techniques and screening programs as directed.
  • Compile and maintain health records.
  • Adhere to all FERPA and HIPPA requirements.
  • Use medical terminology appropriately and demonstrate understanding of common childhood growth and development principles.
  • Observe and maintain OSHA Standards regarding Blood and Blood Borne Pathogens and other applicable Federal and State regulations.
  • Assist with health education as needed, i.e., duplicating, distributing materials, arranging displays, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Assist with other appropriate health-related activities as directed by the Director of Special Education and/or site Administrator.
  • Assist school nurse as requested and follow delegation procedures/policies.
  • Complete other tasks as deemed appropriate by the immediate supervisor and/or the superintendent.
  • Attend and complete Professional Development classes.
  • Show good judgment and demonstrate job responsibility.
  • Demonstrate initiative and dependability.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, accuracy, and ability to work independently and make decisions within assigned authority.
  • Practice effective use of time.
  • Familiar with district Policies and Procedures and perform duties according to established policies and procedure.
  • Present a professional image and attitude toward school nurses, students, parents, administrators, and other employees.
  • Assist others willingly.
  • Accept limitations of responsibility.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and communication.
  • Wear identification at all times.
  • Answer telephone, provide information and appropriate, direct calls as appropriate.
  • Prepare special reports as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
