About The Position

The primary purpose of this job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors. This includes reporting changes in resident condition, assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, and ensuring resident comfort and safety.

Requirements

  • Must have a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or be enrolled in a Temporary Nursing Assistant Program.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
  • Must be a supportive team member and contribute to the teamwork concept.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Must have the willingness to handle difficult residents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents according to their assessment and care plan.
  • Report all changes in resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care.
  • Assist residents with bath functions (bed bath, tub, or shower).
  • Assist residents with dressing and undressing.
  • Assist residents with hair care functions.
  • Assist residents with nail care (excluding diabetic residents).
  • Keep residents clean-shaven.
  • Perform incontinent care and change soiled clothing and linens.
  • Change bed linens and make beds (occupied and unoccupied).
  • Position bedfast residents correctly and comfortably.
  • Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions (e.g., taking to the bathroom, offering bedpan/urinal).
  • Check and report bowel movements and stool character.
  • Assist residents in preparing for activities and social programs.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
  • Assist residents to walk with or without self-help devices.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
