About The Position

This role involves providing direct care to residents, ensuring their comfort, hygiene, and safety. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will work the first shift, from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and will be responsible for a range of tasks including resident care, monitoring, and reporting. Key duties involve assisting with daily living activities, maintaining a clean environment, and collaborating with the nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certified by the State of South Carolina.
  • Active and in good standing with the State of South Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Check group assignment at the main desk and the feeding list.
  • Go directly to the assigned hall and make rounds with the outgoing shift to learn about residents' status.
  • Ensure residents are dry prior to accepting the assignment and report any problems to the nurse.
  • Check the shower list and ensure residents are bathed and dressed properly before taking them to the dining room.
  • Feed residents in the hall and then go to the designated dining room or hall.
  • Ensure all residents have a bath or shower as scheduled, notifying the nurse if a resident refuses.
  • Ensure residents are properly groomed, with clothes matched to the weather, and nails clean, and shave as needed.
  • Report to the nurse if a resident refuses to eat.
  • Give 10 AM snack and record it.
  • Give ice if there is no resident assistant.
  • Check residents' restraints every 30 minutes and release them every 2 hours for 10 minutes, or during personal care or family visits.
  • Report any unusual incidents such as falls, skin tears, bruises, different behaviors, or anything not normal for a resident.
  • Keep rooms clean.
  • Turn and reposition residents as scheduled.
  • Complete PCR books before the end of the shift; sign shower and snack lists.
  • Keep all closets cleaned.
  • Clean wheelchairs and geri-chairs as needed.
  • Assist residents to and from activities and the dining room.
  • Keep residents' personal belongings labeled and bagged.
  • Check vital signs weekly and PRN (as needed).
  • Complete meal records.
  • Follow the chain of command.
  • Be knowledgeable of restraints and treatment of assigned residents.
  • Make residents' beds daily.
  • Change linen on shower days and PRN.
  • Keep all closets cleaned.
