About The Position

Iva Post Acute is seeking dedicated, dependable, and upbeat Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join their team. The facility is a 60-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center in Iva, South Carolina. The role involves providing routine daily nursing care and services to residents in accordance with their assessment and care plan, under the direction of supervisors. The facility is undergoing positive changes under new management and offers opportunities for growth and advancement in a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • 10th grade education
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of the state.

Responsibilities

  • Provide each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as directed by supervisors.
  • Identify residents before administering treatments, serving meals, etc., using wristband or photo card file.
  • Use only authorized abbreviations established by the facility when recording information.
  • Report all changes in resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
  • Report all accidents and incidents observed during the shift.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and promptly report suspected or known violations.
  • Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access the facility’s information system.
  • Perform only trained nursing care procedures.
  • Ensure resident rooms are ready for new admissions (bed made, name tags up, admission kit available).
  • Greet residents and escort them to their rooms.
  • Introduce residents to roommates, other residents, and personnel.
  • Make residents comfortable.
  • Inventory and mark resident’s personal possessions as instructed.
  • Store resident’s clothing.
  • Assist residents with packing personal possessions for transfers or discharge.
  • Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas.
  • Assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles.
  • Create and maintain a warm, personal, positive, and calm atmosphere.
  • Meet with shift nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas and improve services.
  • Report all resident complaints and grievances.
  • Participate in and receive nursing reports.
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Make beds and add extra covers as requested.
  • Measure and record TPRs (temperatures, pulses, and respirations) and weigh/measure residents as instructed.
  • Ensure residents unable to call for help are checked frequently.
  • Answer resident calls promptly.
  • Check residents routinely to ensure personal care needs are met.
  • Assist residents with food arrangements (e.g., identifying food for visually impaired residents).
  • Record resident’s food/fluid intake and report changes in eating habits.
  • Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water within easy reach.
  • Perform after-meal care (remove trays, clean hands, face, clothing).
  • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental and facility personnel.
  • Notify the facility when late or absent.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Assist residents with daily functions (dental/mouth care, bath, combing hair, dressing/undressing).
  • Keep residents dry (change gown, clothing, linens when wet or soiled).
  • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
  • Assist in preparing residents for physical examinations.
  • Observe and report skin breakdowns to prevent bedsores.
  • Report injuries of unknown source, including skin tears.
  • Observe disoriented and comatose residents and record/report data.
  • Perform special treatments as instructed.
  • Immediately notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any resident leaving/missing from the facility.
  • Use only trained equipment and report defective equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and report unauthorized disclosures.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Honor resident’s refusal of treatment requests and report them to a supervisor.
