About The Position

This position involves providing direct care to residents during the second shift, from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will be responsible for ensuring residents' comfort, hygiene, and safety, as well as documenting care provided and reporting any changes in resident status to the nurse.

Requirements

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certified by the State of South Carolina.
  • Active and in good standing with the State of South Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Check group assignment at the main desk and proceed to assigned hall.
  • Make rounds with the outgoing shift to understand residents' status.
  • Ensure residents are dry before accepting the assignment.
  • Report any problems to the nurse.
  • Check and complete shower lists, ensuring residents are bathed and dressed properly before taking them to the dining room.
  • Feed residents in the hall and then in the designated dining room or hall.
  • Ensure all residents have their scheduled bath or shower; inform the nurse if a resident refuses.
  • Ensure residents are properly groomed, with clothes matched to weather, clean nails, and shaved as needed.
  • Report to the nurse if a resident refuses to eat.
  • Administer 3 PM snacks and record them.
  • Provide ice if there is no resident assistant.
  • Check residents' restraints every 30 minutes and release them every 2 hours for 10 minutes, or during personal care or family visits.
  • Report any unusual incidents such as falls, skin tears, bruises, different behaviors, or anything not normal for a resident.
  • Keep rooms and closets clean.
  • Turn and reposition residents as scheduled.
  • Complete PCR books before the end of the shift; sign shower and snack lists.
  • Clean wheelchairs and geri-chairs as needed.
  • Assist residents to and from activities and the dining room.
  • Keep residents' personal belongings labeled and bagged.
  • Check vital signs weekly and as needed (PRN).
  • Complete meal records.
  • Monitor resident's smoke break as scheduled.
  • Take the dirty barrel out and bring an empty barrel for the next shift.
  • Follow the chain of command.
  • Perform mouth care before putting residents to bed.
  • Remove and soak dentures.
  • Ensure all residents are in bed clothes before putting them to bed.
  • Be knowledgeable about proper restraints and treatments for assigned residents.
