Certified Nursing Assistant
About The Position
Prime Healthcare is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for its Medical-Surgical/Telemetry team at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Alabama. Under RN supervision, the CNA assists adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses with basic patient care, daily living activities, mobility, and safety while they are on heart monitors. The role includes observing patients, reporting changes to nursing staff, and helping maintain a safe, supportive environment that promotes recovery. This is a full-time night-shift position with 12-hour shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply, with details discussed during the interview process.
Requirements
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate.
- Current BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate, or obtain it within six months of hire and maintain it.
Nice To Haves
- At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
- Take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
- Help patients get in and out of bed, walk, and use assistive devices.
- Ensure telemetry monitor leads are properly connected and functioning; alert registered nurses when alarms sound.
- Observe patients for physical changes, including shortness of breath, chest pain, or altered mental status, and promptly notify nursing staff.
- Provide basic nursing care and help maintain a safe patient environment under RN supervision.
