Under direct supervision, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists the professional nurse in providing direct and indirect patient care. This role involves ensuring the care, comfort, and safety of assigned patients, utilizing proper infection prevention techniques, and performing delegated nursing care procedures. The CNA observes patients, reports any changes in condition to nursing personnel, and assists patients with basic activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, and oral hygiene. They also assist with patient mobility, linen changes, medication transfer, and distributing patient trays and nourishments. Promptly responding to patient call lights and routine requests is also a key responsibility.
