About The Position

Crossing Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Inpatient Services team. This position involves working 72 hours per pay period, typically three 12-hour shifts per week, primarily during the night shift (3:00 AM to 3:30 AM). The CNA will provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, assisting with essential daily living activities such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and moving patients, as well as changing linens and transferring or transporting patients. The role emphasizes quality-focused, patient-centered care within a supportive environment that includes 24/7 in-house medical providers, a simulation lab, and ongoing training opportunities.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant Course: Required
  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Wisconsin Registry: Required

Responsibilities

  • Answer patient call signals, signal lights, bells or intercom systems to determine patients’ needs.
  • Collect routine vital signs and observe for specified changes in patients condition, reporting to Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Provides assistance in activities of daily living including personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility or ambulation, maintenance of environment and safety.
  • Provides care consistent with overall Nursing Plan of Care by maintaining awareness of the mutual goals for care set by Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Collect specimens (urine, stool, and sputum), transport to lab and document in adherence to policy.
  • Empty soiled linen cans and garbage cans in patient’s rooms as needed.
  • Complete room cleaning post discharge per infection control guidelines.
  • Restock linens and supplies in patient rooms and blanket warmer.
  • Follows identified standards of care, policies, procedures and protocols in support of Nursing Plan of Care.
  • Observe and reports patient responses to care provided within the specified work period.
  • Ensures safety of care environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Attends designated unit meetings, in-services, and staff development programs.
  • Uses established channels of communication within the organization to maintain the patient’s privacy and dignity.
  • Report any patient and/or family concerns to RN promptly.
  • Report to the RN, or document patient responses to care given or patients expressed needs.
  • Support the orientation and development of staff, personnel and students.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, families, healthcare personnel and the organization.
  • Assures care provided is current and consistent with organizations policy for standards of care.
  • Assist nurses or physicians in the operation of medical equipment or provision of patient care.
  • Organize his/her time in support of continuous and efficient provision of care.
  • Maintains accountability for own personal behavior and provides care in adherence to ethical and legal standards as well as CRH Standards of behavior.
  • Prevents transfer of infection and accidental contamination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to provide effective and appropriate care for patients.
