About The Position

At the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC), we help people with disabilities live their best lives. We are looking for kind, energetic people to join us as Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs). In this role, you aren’t just an employee; you are a vital part of someone’s life. Your workday is about more than just "tasks." You will help our residents start their day, stay healthy, and have fun. You might spend your morning helping someone get dressed and ready for the day, and spend your afternoon taking them on a trip into the community or helping them with a favorite hobby. You are there to be their biggest supporter. As a member of our team, your main goal is to help our residents be happy, safe, and healthy. It is active, meaningful work where you get to see the direct results of your kindness every single shift.

Requirements

  • Current Wyoming Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificate is required.
  • Completion of internal Greenhouse (Shahbaz) training is required within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow the health and safety rules that keep our residents safe.
  • Ability to teach residents new skills during their daily routines or fun activities.
  • Knowledge of how to follow therapy and medical care plans for each resident.
  • Understanding how to remain calm and assist residents who are struggling or exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge of how to be professional and kind to residents, families, and co-workers.
  • Skills in using a computer to write notes and check work information.
  • Ability to manage your emotions effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of emergency safety steps like First Aid, CPR (BLS), and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of how to use and care for basic medical tools.
  • Ability to work well with residents who have severe disabilities and may have challenging behaviors.
  • 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Human Services Aide OR Education: Associate's Degree (typically in Healthcare) OR 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Human Services Aide
  • CNA Certification at the time of hire
  • Ability to complete Greenhouse (Shahbaz training) within six (6) months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Help residents with personal care, like getting dressed and eating, while allowing them to be as independent as possible.
  • Take residents to community outings and help them enjoy hobbies, recreation, and time with friends.
  • Be the "voice" for our residents, making sure their needs are met and their goals are heard.
  • Use your training to provide physical care, assist with medical needs, and keep everyone safe during challenging moments.
  • Help keep living areas clean, attend team meetings to plan the best care, and help mentor new staff as they join the family.
  • Learn new skills through specialized training and keep your CNA certification active with our support.
