About The Position

This position is for a Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant on the Oncology Progressive Care Unit (W-PCU). This 24-bed unit serves adult progressive surgical, oncology, palliative care, and progressive acute care patients receiving chemotherapy. The mission of the Progressive Care Unit is to provide expert care for patients and families while supporting ongoing education and research. The approach is interdisciplinary and patient and family-centered, upholding the values of Nebraska Medicine: Innovation, Teamwork, Excellence, Accountability, Courage, and Healing. The role involves performing delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of the patient's plan of care.

Requirements

• Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA).
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required (for CNA).
• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
• Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant).
• High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant).
• Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant).

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant).
