About The Position
St. Luke’s Meridian Medical Center is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant or Nurse Apprentice to join its Intensive Care Unit team. The ICU cares for critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical needs. The role works alongside nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to provide compassionate, high-quality care in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. It offers the opportunity to strengthen clinical skills and gain experience caring for high-acuity patients, with eligibility to apply for scholarships to pursue nursing education.
Requirements
- For the Certified Nursing Assistant path: current CNA certification in the state of practice.
- For the Nurse Apprentice path: high school diploma or equivalent.
- For the Nurse Apprentice path: enrollment in an accredited school of nursing with ACEN, CCNE, or CNEA accreditation.
- For the Nurse Apprentice path: Nurse Apprentice Letter or Nursing Intern Letter from the State Board of Nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification through the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support with activities of daily living, mobility, repositioning, hygiene, and other essential patient care needs.
- Assist with obtaining vital signs and monitoring intake and output.
- Promptly communicate changes in a patient’s condition to the nursing team.
- Care for critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical needs.
- Work closely with nurses and an interdisciplinary care team.
