About The Position

This position is for the Solid Organ Transplant Unit (SOTU), Nebraska’s only solid organ transplant unit. It is a 36-bed med-surg unit that provides medical, surgical, telemetry, and progressive care to adult pre- and post-liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal, and islet cell transplant patients. The unit also houses the Intestinal Rehab Program, which is the busiest intestinal transplant program in the U.S. Staff care for patients from around the world. This nursing position offers numerous growth opportunities through unit teamwork, patient complexity, and relationship building with patients and transplant fellowship classes.

Requirements

• Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA).
• Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska (for CNA).
• Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant).
• High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant).
• Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant).
• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant).

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient's plan of care.
