About The Position

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant/Nursing Assistant for their Neurology Med Surg unit. This role involves performing delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel to achieve the patient's plan of care. The Neurology Med Surg unit, specifically 6 Neuro, is a 48-bed unit specializing in Neurology and Neurosurgery, including eight beds for long-term EEG monitoring. The patient population includes those with strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions. Staff work closely with physician teams, PT/OT, SLP, and other healthcare disciplines to provide comprehensive care. The unit emphasizes teamwork and excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA).
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required (for CNA).
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills required (for CNA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later) (for CNA).
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant).
  • High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant).
  • Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant).
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills required (for Nursing Assistant).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) upon completion of unit orientation required (for Nursing Assistant).

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced CNAs preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred (for CNA).
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred (for CNA).
  • Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant).
