About The Position

This position is for a Certified Nursing Assistant/Nursing Assistant on the Neurology Med Surg unit. Experienced CNAs are preferred. The 6 Neuro unit is a 48-bed unit caring for medical-surgical patients specializing in Neurology and Neurosurgery. Eight of our beds are equipped for long-term EEG monitoring. Our specialized patient population includes strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions. The complexity of these patients makes it a great learning experience for nurses interested in the ICU. Our staff works closely with physician teams, PT/OT, SLP, and other healthcare disciplines to provide extraordinary care. We pride ourselves on teamwork and excellence on 6 Neuro.
Requirements
- Minimum of 16 years of age required (for CNA).
- Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required (for CNA).
- Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
- Minimum of 18 years of age required (for Nursing Assistant).
- High school education or equivalent required (for Nursing Assistant).
- Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program (for Nursing Assistant).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) upon completion of unit orientation required (for Nursing Assistant).
Nice To Haves
- Experienced CNAs preferred.
- Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Direct patient care experience preferred (for Nursing Assistant).
Responsibilities
- Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient's plan of care.
