About The Position

This is a pool position for students currently enrolled in nursing school. The position requires a minimum of 72 hours per quarter. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care, and helps maintain a safe and clean environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CNA may also function as a Bedside Assistant for patients requiring 1:1 supervision.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active WA certified CNA license.
  • Eligible to obtain Medical Assistant: Registered certification where applicable (application completed during the hiring process).
  • Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.
  • Must work minimum of 72 hours per quarter.

Responsibilities

  • Perform related assignments and tasks as requested to promote positive visitor, family, and staff relations.
  • Provide high-quality patient care in a caring and compassionate manner. Report any observed change in patient condition or behavior promptly to the nurse. Ensure patient care tasks are completed timely.
  • Perform or assist with duties as outlined in the CNA Scope of Practice under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patient and staff according to hospital and unit policies.
  • Demonstrate competence in providing care routines in accordance with established nursing care procedures to ensure patients' comfort and safety.
  • Take and record vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other measurements accurately and timely. Report all variations from normal to the RN in charge of the patient.
  • Obtain finger stick blood glucose as delegated by the RN unless working in an area where this is prohibited.
  • Prepare patients for meals, assist in feeding patients (if necessary), and distribute fresh water and other nourishment according to patients’ needs.
  • Assist patients with elimination needs.
  • Ambulates/Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and patient safety techniques.
  • Assist the nurse in treatment procedures as needed.
  • Document accurately and timely in the patient medical record.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement programs.
  • Adhere to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital/Wenatchee Valley Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable.
  • Maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
