About The Position

This is a pool position for students currently enrolled in nursing school. The position requires a minimum of 72 hours per quarter. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care, and helps maintain a safe and clean environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CNA may also function as a Bedside Assistant for patients requiring 1:1 supervision.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program.
High School Diploma or GED.
Active WA certified CNA license.
Eligible to obtain Medical Assistant: Registered certification where applicable (application completed during the hiring process).
Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.
Must work minimum of 72 hours per quarter.

Responsibilities

Perform related assignments and tasks as requested to promote positive visitor, family, and staff relations.
Provide high-quality patient care in a caring and compassionate manner. Report any observed change in patient condition or behavior promptly to the nurse. Ensure patient care tasks are completed timely.
Perform or assist with duties as outlined in the CNA Scope of Practice under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for patient and staff according to hospital and unit policies.
Demonstrate competence in providing care routines in accordance with established nursing care procedures to ensure patients' comfort and safety.
Take and record vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other measurements accurately and timely. Report all variations from normal to the RN in charge of the patient.
Obtain finger stick blood glucose as delegated by the RN unless working in an area where this is prohibited.
Prepare patients for meals, assist in feeding patients (if necessary), and distribute fresh water and other nourishment according to patients’ needs.
Assist patients with elimination needs.
Ambulates/Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and patient safety techniques.
Assist the nurse in treatment procedures as needed.
Document accurately and timely in the patient medical record.
Actively participate in quality improvement programs.
Adhere to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital/Wenatchee Valley Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable.
Maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
Other duties as assigned.
