The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Med/Surg FT position is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week, with three 12-hour shifts per week, including alternating weekends and holidays. The CNA will assist the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. The role involves collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining nursing supplies, and cleaning equipment. Patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, are also part of the role, as is assisting with nutritional needs and maintaining skin integrity. Depending on unit requirements and under RN direction, tasks may include removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles.
